Art Exhibition

This week we showcased our artwork at the art exhibition.

Our artwork has been inspired by the work of author and illustrator Eric Carle. Before we started our art we read a lot of Eric Carle books including our favourites; The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Grouchy Ladybug and “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,” said the Sloth.

We looked closely at the pictures and practised drawing some of the creatures we could see in his artwork.

Before we could draw our seahorses we had to make the tissue paper that we would use for the collage.  To do this we painted it many times with many different colours and used paint brushes, sponges and our fingers to create texture.

We made stencils for our seahorses and then we cut the pieces of our seahorses out of the tissue paper.  After that we stuck it all together.
